Kevin has over 35 years experience in all facets of the construction industry. He trained as a structural engineer with two leading consulting engineering firms prior to licensure as a Professional Engineer.
Kevin gained experience in the wider scope of construction of large, multi-year construction projects as design and resident engineer. Solving problems daily with architects, contractors and owners resulted in a deep understanding of the key issues that lead to delay and disruption on construction projects. Kevin applies this knowledge in his claims consulting work and brings this in-depth knowledge to provide clarity and understanding to matters before triers-of-fact.

Kevin is familiar with the standard forms of contract used in the Canadian industry, such as CCDC 2, CCDC 5 (A & B), CCA 1, and bespoke forms of contract including Purchase Orders and on-off construction management contracts.

His experience ranges from structural engineering design to project management for retail store owners, construction management on a major airport terminal building, and project management for concrete and structural steel subcontractors. In one entrepreneurial venture, Kevin was the Operations Director for a developer of rooftop solar power plants, using his wide-ranging experience in assessing potential rooftop sites, and planning the engineering and construction works for each site.

Kevin has authored numerous expert reports in the areas of delay and disruption of subcontractors’ works, delays in delivery of industrial facilities under design/build scenarios, and procurement processes. Only one of those matters reached Court, where he was cross-examined in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. The matter was settled after the trial ended, but before the verdict was rendered.

This expert has the following cross-examination experience:

  • Superior Court of Justice of Ontario
