Colin is a Chartered Engineer with over 45 years’ experience in civil engineering. His work has included civil engineering infrastructure across the project life cycle, from inception and master planning through technical assessments to design and construction. Projects have included major land reclamation, highways, drainage, flood alleviation works, utilities, rail and airports.
He initially spent ten years working for local authorities in the Midlands before joining private practice in London. He has subsequently worked for several international consultants, both in the UK and overseas.
He recently spent ten years leading the on-site team in Qatar on the expansion of Hamad airport, where he also advised on asphalt pavement defects and supervised remedial measures, in addition to assisting with the alignment of the metro and integration of the new station.
His work has often involved high profile/sensitive schemes and clients have included some of the leading corporate names in the UK property and investment fields in addition to many public sector clients including Network Rail, health authorities, various departments of central and local government, the Asian Development Bank and European Union.
In the course of his career, Colin has prepared various independent reports and has provided expert opinion. He has been cross examined in the witness box on a number of occasions, including in arbitrations, County Courts and the Crown Court. He has been involved in various UK planning cases, Transport and Works Act and trunk road related public inquiries.
