Summary

Carl is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors with over 30 years’ experience working on projects in the Building and Infrastructure Sectors. Carl has acted as a quantum expert witness and expert advisor and has been appointed as expert in various adjudication and arbitration proceedings on behalf of Employers, Contractors, and Sub-Contractors.

Carl specialises in commercial management, construction contracts, and analysing causation in construction disputes and has extensive experience in the provision of services for the preparation, prosecution, and defence of claims through adjudication and arbitration, including final account analysis, assessment, and valuation of variations and compensation events under specific forms of contract.

Carl’s experience dealing with quantum and understanding of delay and programming matters informs the preparation and evaluation of claims for prolongation, project disruption and acceleration.

Carl trained as a contractor’s quantity surveyor and was often resident on construction projects from commencement to practical completion through to final account conclusion. Carl has worked on a range of projects from just a few hundred thousand pounds to many millions and acted in a commercial capacity valuing changes progressively and negotiating and agreeing the final valuation with the client’s quantity surveyor.

Latterly, Carl has been a consultant involved in claims, dispute, and expert work on major projects around the globe including UK, Netherlands, Denmark, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Australia.

Carl is an Operational Director of Driver Trett based in the Midlands and has responsibility for the delivery of the Midlands Regional Business.

Carl has been appointed on numerous occasions as a quantum expert assessing the effects of change on construction projects gaining a full understanding of the effects of time on the financial aspects of construction projects.  Carl has been involved in projects relating to, light rail and tram work; infrastructure/roads; office development, schools, commercial, hospital and residential buildings.
