Summary
Carl is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with over 25 years’ experience working on projects in the Building and Infrastructure Sectors. Carl specialises in commercial management, construction contracts, and claims analysis and has extensive experience in the provision of services for the preparation, prosecution, and defence of claims through adjudication and arbitration, including final account analysis, assessment, and valuation of variations and compensation events under specific forms of contract.
Carl particularly deals with the preparation and valuation of variations; claims for prolongation; project disruption and acceleration; disputed accounts; remedial works; and damages.
Carl trained as a contractor’s quantity surveyor and was often resident on construction projects from commencement to practical completion. Carl has worked on a range of projects from just a few hundred thousand pounds to many millions and acted in a commercial capacity valuing changes progressively, and negotiating and agreeing the final valuation with the client’s quantity surveyor.
For the past 17 years’, Carl has been a consultant involved in claims, dispute, and expert work on major projects around the globe including UK, Netherlands, Denmark, Saudi Arabia and Oman.
Carl’s work at Driver Trett has included contractual advice to contractors, subcontractors, and clients alike including and very often the evaluation and assessment of final accounts including, variations and claims for loss and expense and damages.
Carl has been appointed on several occasions as quantum expert valuing the effects of change on construction projects. Carl has also assisted quantum experts on large international projects. Carl has been involved in projects relating to, light rail and tram work; infrastructure/roads; office, school, commercial, hospital and residential buildings.
As a quantum expert, Carl has attended expert meetings and prepared expert reports, and provided opinion on various matters including reasonableness of interim valuations, valuation of variations and defects, prolongation and disruption costs and final account valuations for both main contractors and sub-contractors.
