Summary
After studying Shipping and Shipbuilding at the Technical University Delft, Ben started at a medium-sized shipyard to learn how ships are really designed and built. For almost 17 years he worked in various positions on different projects at various shipyards. In 2008 he joined Driver Trett and continued to assist as a claim and contract consultant many different international clients, inside and outside the shipbuilding industry. Ben has also been involved in large and complex international (shipbuilding) arbitration cases.
Ben is a naval architect and mechanical engineer with academic and professional training in both the Netherlands and the UK.
He has over 30 years of experience with extensive international hands on and commercial experience on various types of shipbuilding, ship repair, navy and FPSO projects at different stages, including tender preparation, contract & subcontract negotiations, engineering, work preparation and project execution.
Ben also has experience in managing multi-disciplined engineering projects, ship conversions and (navy) shipbuilding projects and is experienced in preparing, analysing and defending claims on a wide range of (navy) shipbuilding, offshore and civil engineering projects.
