Summary
Neil is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with over 15 years of experience in the construction industry. He holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Quantity Surveying and a Masters’ Degree in Construction Law from the University of Strathclyde.
Neil initially trained as a quantity surveyor and progressed to senior commercial manager for a major UK building contractor where he was responsible for leading on a range of claims and resolving commercial disputes across a business unit with a turnover of £850m.
He has extensive experience in the commercial management of construction projects and has worked on a broad range of projects covering many sub-sectors of the construction industry including housing, refurbishment, high rise, hotel and leisure, education, facilities and property management, public buildings, waste-water treatment works, solar farms, hydro-electric schemes and utilities. He has experience with JCT, SBCC, NEC and bespoke PPP forms of contracts.
Since moving into a consultancy role, Neil has advised clients on contractual and commercial matters, assisted in the preparation of adjudication submissions, expert reports and claim documents in relation to construction and engineering projects. He has also been appointed as Quantum Expert and Expert Advisor.
Neil has undertaken formal expert witness training provided by Bond Solon in respect of, expert report writing, court room skills and cross examination.
